On October 20th, Christie’s offered the BVLGARI Blue, a 10.95-carat triangular-cut fancy vivid blue diamond set alongside a 9.87-carat white diamond in a ring. The ring was the highlight of Jewels: The New York Sale, and it is the largest fancy vivid blue diamond of this cut ever to be offered at auction. So rare, only 1 in 10 million diamonds possess a color intense enough to be qualified as fancy vivid blue by the Gemological Institute of America. The original owner purchased the ring to commemorate the birth of his first son and paid about $1 million…the ring was expected to make auction history and fetch over $12 million…it went for $15.7!!! wow…

Where to eat: I love to try new spots and this one did NOT disappoint! I loved the decor inside - very high ceilings yet an industrial type feel with a DJ overlooking the dining area and playing a selection of vinyl from the library lining the walls.
The food was amazing… Mono x Mono is a Korean-Sushi Bar that’s only been open for about a month (second location in Midtown). They have great cocktails, especially their Mojitos - six different flavors (we literally tried almost all of them) with the only one we missed being Grape. They’re all made with Soju, the coconut and the apple being my favorites!! If you’re not a fan of Mojitos, you can always opt for a beer as they have an extensive selection to choose from.
What to eat: You definitely have to start with the Holy Crab (fried softshell crab over arugula), the Salmon Yuzu Salad, and the Green Bean Pancake - which you can add toppings such as chicken, beef, or a variety of seafood. We tried the lobster and shrimp, which were both good - the lobster was my favorite! Their “special rolls” all looked great, but the decision to try the Golden Mango Tropical Roll was the right move!! We completely over ordered, but absolutely HAD to try the Monomomo Chicken which is touted as being their “Famous Korean Fried Chicken”…the chicken is super crispy, apparently deep-friend twice to burn off the fat which makes the skin papery thin - it’s then brushed with a soy-garlic or hot-spicy sauce. It’s very similar to Bonchon Chicken but not as spicy…really good, but I recommend ordering the appetizer portion so you don’t make your stomach explode from over-eating lol.
Jay-Z made an appearance last night at the Delano South Beach hotel in Miami to promote his memoir Decoded, which will be released November 16. At the event, he unveiled a page from the book as part of an online scavenger hunt where participants are competing for the chance to party with Jay and Coldplay on NYE in Las Vegas. You can join the hunt and locate these pages using the Bing.com/Jay-Z site.
According to David Droga, the Droga5 creative director who oversaw the New York campaign, “While about half of the pages will be displayed in traditional outdoor advertising like billboards, the rest will be offbeat, printed in one instance on the bottom of a hotel swimming pool (as in video above), in another on the lining of jackets in a store display window, and in another on the felt of pool tables in a pool hall.”
The cover of Decoded features one of Andy Warhol‘s 1984 Rorschach paintings and the 336-page book breaks down 36 songs while it offers an intimate look at Jay-Z’s songwriting process.
Fashion designer Christian Lacroix and Chivas team up for a special edition Chivas Regal 18 Year Old release. The premium scotch whiskey comes in a decadent brocade presentation box in French jacquard. The case has a mirrored interior and the bottle itself also has a jacquard embroidery. A metallic design is present on the bottle as well, which is reminiscent of the Chivas 12yo that was released last year. Only 3,000 bottles of the Lacroix 18yo will be available, with around one-third allocated to the duty free market at a retail price of $495.
